"Nūr al-nās" (Light of the people), is the name and the logo of a major project that, by means of this website and the music of the CD that it publicizes and distributes intends to introduce the “Melkite Liturgical Chant” to a wider audience, thanks to the many and varied facets of a renewed relationship between faith and culture. A culture that bears witness to a region of the world, to a community and to songs of faith that can lead people to their homeland, bringing a sound, a form and a meaning to the lives of those who still live there or those who can return to it thanks to their encounters with the Eastern Churches abroad. Our website includes various texts that will give readers an edifying introduction to the "Melkite Liturgical Chant" and there are others on the theme of "Faith and Culture". There are also a number of pages and sections within the website (with information on events, people, etc.) that are contributing towards the presentation and distribution of the first CD to be released by "Nūr al-nās". If Light is in fact the beginning of all things the first CD of our project could not have been called anything other than "Nourul nas" (Light of the people). "Nūr al-nās" is thus the first musical product of our ambitious and challenging international and inter-cultural project. It consists of 18 tracks and it was recorded at the Hall of the Assumption in the Vatican on the 12th, 14th and 15th of February 2014. Signs, symbols, sounds and the great breath of Prayer that moves us all deeply, from Rome to New York, Paris and Buenos Aires, by giving voice to the Word of Man and the Word of God.
